South Dakota Junior Beef Ambassadors team up for National Agriculture Month

March was National Agriculture Month and the South Dakota Junior Beef Ambassadors did what they do best, and promoted BEEF to local consumers throughout South Dakota! The South Dakota Junior Beef Ambassador program consist of 33 South Dakota youth between the ages of 5 and 18 years old and they range from all across South Dakota. This program allows the Junior Beef Ambassador the opportunity to share their BEEF story with consumers of all ages.

March was the perfect time to share the BEEF message, and the South Dakota Junior Beef Ambassadors did just that. Throughout the month of March, they participated in several activities, such as National Read Across America Day, where they shared and read the new Build Your Base children’s book, “Beef Strong” authored by Amanda Radke and many other BEEF related books to students in their schools and local libraries. Students all over South Dakota has the chance to learn about BEEF and why it is so important to include in a healthful diet to keep them BEEF Strong no matter what activities they are involved in!

National Agriculture Week, March 20- 27, 2022 was another busy week in for the South Dakota Junior Beef Ambassadors as they took their efforts back to the classroom with BEEF related ag week toolkits that had several Beef information projects such as Beef Jerky Trail Mix Recipes, Beef Coloring Contest, Radio PSAs about BEEF, Educational Know Your Beef Posters, and many more great activities to help educate students on a high-quality protein like BEEF!

Caitlin Wonnenberg, South Dakota Junior Beef Ambassador Manager says it was a job well done by the South Dakota Junior Beef Ambassadors, “Our Junior Beef Ambassadors did a phenomenal job during the month of March sharing beef’s story! They have been reading beef stories and doing beef related activities with their classrooms, engaging at the Ag Day at the Pavilion events, and much more! We are so proud of the work they continue to do in promoting beef as the future to the industry!”

Youth are the future generation of the BEEF industry and the South Dakota Beef Farmers and Ranchers are so lucky to have so many great South Dakota Youth who so passionate about BEEF. Our future looks bright as these Junior Beef Ambassadors continue to grow in their positions and inform consumers on the importance of BEEF in your diet.
