Tell us a little bit about yourself, your family and about your ranch?

Jeremy grew up farming as well as in the Dairy Cattle business with his own family. Once Jeremy and Amy married in 1997 Jeremy began working full time in the seed business and in April of 2002, we decided to purchase our own farm. Once our first child Lane got a bit older, he grew more interested in cattle and knew he eventually wanted to be involved with 4H. At the age of 5 Lane began raising bottle calves in order to earn some money so he could purchase his own cows. His first 6 cows were bought in 2011 and from there the herd just continued to expand. To date they have about 110 cows. They are a very family-oriented farm in which Jeremy, Amy, Lane and Liza are involved with all aspects of the cattle business. Most days you can find us either in the barn, at pasture, working cattle, cutting hay, at a cow show or basically outdoors tending to all the things that keep our animals safe and go into having a cow/calf production.

What do you want consumers to know about the Beef industry?

We would like the consumers to know that a great deal of time and consideration goes into the production of good quality beef and that is extremely important to us producers. Cow/calf production is a 24/7 job that can be very challenging at times (extreme heat, blizzards, floods, droughts) but we love what we do and we believe it is our responsibility to bring you, the consumer, a high quality protein. This day and age most people look for quickness and convenience and don’t necessarily worry about the “ingredients” that they are consuming. We, the producers, DO worry about those ingredients and do our very best to make sure it is good for your body. It is our job to make sure our animals are getting their daily needs met with nutrients and water so you as the consumer can get your daily needs met with quality protein, vitamins and minerals to help you eat a well-rounded, balanced diet.

One word to describe your life as a rancher and why?

Dedication: We put our heart and soul into raising these animals and caring for them in varying weather conditions all hours of the day and night in order to put a great source of protein on our table as well as your table. This is our way of life and it allows us to do it side by side with our children so they can learn hard work, responsibility and respect.
