BEEF powers the Sioux Falls Storm

The Sioux Falls Storm was powered by beef this past weekend in their season opener against the Iowa Barnstormers on May 15, 2021 at the Denny Sanford Premier Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The South Dakota Beef Industry Council (SDBIC) was the proud sponsor for this year’s season opener hall of fame game and hosted several pregame activities during the tailgating event.

“The Gridiron Burger Battle and Food Truck Challenge”, took center stage in the afternoon and representative coaches and staff from all four Build Your Base with Beef program participants battled it out at the grill. Both events were enjoyed by event spectators, all while learning about the Build Your Base with Beef program, a comprehensive sports nutrition program developed through a collaborative partnership between the South Dakota Beef Industry Council (SDBIC), Sanford Health, and the Sanford Sports Science Institute (SSSI) utilizing beef as its premier protein. Special thanks to all of our media partners for participating in the event. This year’s winner of the Food Truck Challenge was Fat Kid Filly’s while Mrs. South Dakota International, Chelsie Bakken and Augustana University Football’s Run Game Coordinator / Video Coordinator and Offensive Line Coach, Matt “Bear” Bacoulis won the Gridiron Burger Battle. Congratulations to all participants!

The SDBIC also participated in Kids Zone activities before the game and gave Storm game attendees the opportunity to learn about Beef Farmers and Ranchers through virtual rancher tours and provided educational information for youth to learn about beef.
