2021 Team Beef SD

The South Dakota Beef Industry Council’s 2021 Team Beef South Dakota season will wrap up in September. Team Beef South Dakota is a community of runners and cyclists who recognize the nutritional benefits of beef, and the vital role high-quality protein plays in their training. The program is designed for South Dakotans who want to promote beef, be physically active and showcase eating beef in a healthful lifestyle. Through the program Team Beef members receive nutrition education on how best to incorporate beef into their diet during training. They learn that beef is a high-quality protein containing all the essential amino acids the body needs to help with maintenance, repair, and growth of lean muscle mass.

Team Beef continues to grow and evolve year after year. This year we had approximately 150 members helping to promote beef. We have a tremendous group of passionate beef promoters on the team and have seen an increase in family involvement. Family members strive to work on living a healthful lifestyle together as they share the beef story. Many people don’t realize that on average, a 3-ounce serving of cooked beef provides approximately 175 calories, 10 essential nutrients and nearly 50 percent of the Daily Value for protein. Research shows that exercise is more effective when paired with a higher-protein diet.

Throughout the year members have participated in a variety of events both within and outside of the state. They’ve posted their activity on the Team BEEF SD Facebook page as well as other various social media pages. Upcoming events you will likely see members at are the Sioux Falls Half/Full Marathon on August 29, Andy’s Road Race in Huron, SD September 4, and the Black Hills Veterans March/Marathon in Deadwood, SD Sept 15-18.

If you are interested in becoming a member, follow the South Dakota Beef Industry Council’s Facebook page as registration for the 2022 season will open in December.
